Frequently asked questions

How is a kingdom different from a country?

Kingdoms emphasize the ruler-realm relationship; countries emphasize geography and people. "The Realm of Aldoria" is ruled by someone; "Aldoria" just exists. Useful when the ruler matters narratively (royal succession, conquest, divine-right).

Can I generate empire or duchy names?

Yes - the template pool includes Imperium, Confederacy, Free Cities, and similar political-formation names. For specific feudal subdivisions (duchy, march, county), pair the kingdom template with culture-specific honorifics from the Title generator.

What if I want fallen-empire names?

Pair adjectives like Sundered, Hollow, Forgotten, Pale with kingdom templates. "The Sundered Throne" or "The Hollow Realm of Eldwyn" suggests pre-collapse history without explicit exposition.
