Catch the continuity errors before your readers do.
Blue eyes in chapter 4, green eyes in chapter 19. A character who knows something two chapters too early. BlurbBio reads your whole manuscript, records what it establishes, and shows you where the book contradicts itself, with the quote and the chapter.

A grammar checker reads sentences. Continuity errors live between sentences, sometimes 80,000 words apart, which is why spellcheck never sees them and why tired authors stop seeing them too. Finding them takes something that remembers the whole book at once.
BlurbBio builds that memory from your chapters. It extracts characters, locations, items, relationships, and timeline events into a Story Bible, then compares what each chapter says against what the book has already established. You see the conflict, both quotes, and where each one sits, and you decide what to change.
How the continuity checker works
Import your manuscript
Upload a DOCX or write in the built-in editor. Chapters are detected automatically, so there is nothing to fill in first.
Your Story Bible builds itself
Characters, places, items, relationships, and timeline events are pulled from the text, with each entry linked back to its chapter.
Contradictions are flagged
Conflict detection compares chapters against established facts and shows you both quotes, so you can fix the error or dismiss the flag.
Ways to check continuity in a novel
The automatic Story Bible and conflict detection are on the Writer and Author plans. Free accounts get one Story Bible build of up to 10,000 words and one live AI scan on a chapter.
What a continuity checker can catch
The most common errors are the plainest: a physical description that drifts, a name spelled two ways, a date that cannot be right, a character present in a scene after leaving town. These are also the errors reviewers quote, because readers notice them without any effort.
On the Author plan, live checks also compare new text against the rules your book has set, so a magic system or a world rule that breaks in a later chapter gets flagged while you are still revising it.
What a continuity flag looks like
Continuity conflict detected
High confidenceCharacter knowledge · Tomas Reyes · the forged letter
Chapter 24 · established canon
“Tomas read the letter twice before he understood it had been forged.”
Chapter 20 · contradiction
“He slid the forged letter across the table and said nothing.”
Two quotes, two chapters, one contradiction. You decide which version is canon.
What it cannot do
No software replaces a good reader. A checker can tell you that two statements disagree. It cannot tell you that a twist feels unearned or that your middle sags, and it will sometimes flag something you did on purpose, such as an unreliable narrator. That is why every flag can be dismissed, and why nothing in your manuscript changes unless you change it.
A record of everything your book has established
The checker compares chapters against facts taken from your own manuscript, not against a template.
When to run it
The best moment is after a full draft and again after structural revision, before you pay for editing. Copyeditors and developmental editors charge for their time, so every contradiction you clear first leaves them more time for the problems only a person can see.
